The history of Bernardine Gardens dates back to the 15th century when Bernardine Monks were invited to Vilnius and built the complex of St. Anne's, St. Francis’ and Bernardine’s Churches and Monasteries. They also cultivated the marshy springy area and planted gardens with ponds, canals, and fruitful orchards. Later bees were buzzing in the apiary and flowers grew in the orangery.

In the rest part of the Vilnia bend, there was the courtyard of a castle farm, later known as the Sereikiškės suburb, with dams, mills, and workshops.3/’

In 2013, the park was restored to its authentic 19th-century environment. During the reconstruction, the 19th-century park design style was replicated. The system of open and closed spaces with green meadows was created, the central square with the rose garden designed by the artist Alexander Strauss, was replenished and the 20th-century rock garden with a pond was renewed.

The main rose garden embraces the fountain with music and lights and the assortment of plants in the botanical garden was enriched by the display of aquatic plants in the swimming pool. The original name of Bernardine Garden was returned to the park.
