Address:

The Klausen Synagogue is a public building named after its three smaller buildings, or klauses. One of these contained the renowned Talmudic school, the other the synagogue, and the third the hospital. The interior features multi-coloured plasterwork and cylindrical vaults with four pairs of lunettes. Today, the synagogue holds an exhibition of Hebrew prints and manuscripts portraying Jewish history in Europe through the Middle Ages. There are various tales surrounding the building, one of which claims that angels carried the stones that make up the structure and have since protected it, as well as preserving it from two fires.
